TESTIMONIALS

Find out what some of our happy customers have had to say about us, below is just a few of our satisfied customers.

Brian & Hilary are by far the nicest, most welcoming hosts we have had the pleasure to meet. The guesthouse and rooms were so tidy, and as a whole it had a very welcoming feel. We had a three year old with us and there was a good amount of toys for her to play with. Breakfast was lovely, and the hosts were very knowledgeable considering it was our first visit in the area. Thank you so much for being so lovely, we will definitely come back for another stay.

The owners Brian and Hillary went out of their way to make us feel welcome, and were very kind to us. The cooked full English breakfast was excellent. Our room had a sea view, the bed was very large and comfortable. As it was March we didn’t use the beaches, but they were within walking distance. A good place to stay to explore the North Cornish Coast.

Brian and Hilary made us feel so comfortable and welcome at their Guest House and were the perfect hosts. The rooms were, clean and warm and had everything in them including tea making facilities and biscuits galore. Brian is in the process of refurbishing the rooms to a very high and tasteful standard . The breakfasts had everything you could wish for and we even had a “ lesson” in making the perfect poached egg and yes Hilary it works. I would be very happy to go back to this place which was great value for money

I can very happily recommend this establishment. Thank you Brian and Hillary for making us very welcome. Our room was spotless and very comfortable. The breakfast that Hillary presented was just wonderful and set us up for the day. Thanks again “you two” for having us.. we will, without doubt, return.
— Paul D, Launceston (Jan 2019)

On arrival, we received a warm welcome from Brian, and throughout our short stay both Brian and Hilary were extremely friendly and hospitable, and made our stay enjoyable and relaxing. The hotel was clean and spotless, and the food fresh, tasty and well prepared - with a good portion size which set us up for the day! A good nights sleep in a comfy bed, a well placed venue with a short walk to the town/beaches. Although this was a short stay for us, we came away feeling like we had had a proper break away from busy lives, having been looked after from the moment we arrived until the minute that we left. We would definitely return, hopefully next time for a longer period. Thanks Brian and Hilary, we had a lovely stay with you.

I travel extensively for my job, usually around 175 days a year. I stay at everything from major hotel chains to local B&Bs. Brian and Hillary made my recent stay, one of the best I have ever enjoyed. My room was excellent and daily housekeeping kept it spotless. Hillary is an excellent cook and chef delivering everything from a full English breakfast to evening meals. Their knowledge of the local area helped with everything from work purchases to sight seeing trips. They are conveniently located just a short walk from the beaches and the town center. Their friendliness and hospitality make you feel like you are visiting family rather than staying at a hotel. If you are visiting Bude and don’t stay with Brian and Hillary you are missing out.

Spent three nights at the Bude Haven whilst visiting friends who live nearby. Lovely big room with a huge bed. Immaculate bed linen, which to me, is a must. Lovely big towels too. Quality tea/coffee/cookies supplied in the room as well as bottled water, all replenished daily.
Excellent breakfast freshly cooked to order, using local produce as far as possible. I particularly loved the bacon.
Evening meals can be provided with prior notice and there is a comfortable bar area to enjoy a nightcap.
Brian and Hilary are excellent hosts who provide that home from home experience where nothing is too much trouble.
We had a lovely short break and slept really well for the three nights.
Would not hesitate to recommend this establishment. Thank you.

Just spent five nights at The Budehaven Guest House, what more can I add to the other reviews, Brian and Hillary are so welcoming, they make you feel like long standing friends from the moment you arrive. Our room (4) was lovely, with a sofa to relax on after a day out. The bed was large and very comfortable. The location is perfect, short walk to a great beach and easy access to all the attractions that Cornwall has to offer.

Our third visit to the Bude Haven certainly didn’t disappoint as owners Brian & Hilary continue to make improvements to the hotel. As always we received a warm welcome and good hospitality during our short stay along with a clean tidy room. Well done and keep up the good work.

Brian & Hilary bent over backwards for the whole team working in Bude for the 10 days we were filming, accommodating our family visits with ease, nothing was too much trouble, the bar was always open and the banter great, breakfast was fantastic, I would certainly stay again and would recommend the Budehaven to all.

Very comfortable, warm and cozy hotel run by the extremely welcoming couple, Brian & Hilary. Our room was clean and tidy with a comfortable bed and good en suite. With plenty of choice for breakfast and a very good home cooked meal available if required. Mustn’t forget the well stocked bar and good all round atmosphere. Would certainly stay again.

We were made to feel very welcome at the Bude haven with our toddler who loved playing with the selection of toys downstairs at breakfast time. Room was spacious and clean with lovely big Windows. We enjoyed a delicious cooked breakfast each morning which was fresh and done to perfection. Short walk into the town, even shorter to the nearest beach although we preferred summerleaze to crooklets. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend and can’t wait to return to Bude.

Stayed at The Budehaven as a couple, my girlfriend and I wanted somewhere close to the beach and all of Bude’s fantastic food and drink venues and The Budehaven stuck out as a great place to stay. Perfectly situated just a short effortless stroll to the beach it was no hassle at all. Brian the Owner was an absolutely wonderful host. Brian is is a passionate and dedicated hotelier with a wonderful friendly attitude and persona, he made us feel right at home. Had great nights sleep in the clean rooms. I cannot recommend highly enough, and I will definitely be back for a winter retreat in the upcoming months. See you soon Brian! Thank you!

Stayed overnight Thursday with friend Gill. This is possibly the best Guest House I have stayed in (and I’ve stayed in a few over the years). We enjoyed using the Hot Tub; it was ready for use when we arrived back from our long walk, ever so much appreciated. The room was spacious and clean and the beds were very comfortable. The property is within walking distance to all the local amenities (town, beach etc.). We both enjoyed the breakfast (vegetarian option available for Gill). The Hosts Brian and Hilary were amazing, nothing too much trouble they went the ‘extra mile’ (literally).......thanks again for the lift Brian! We would certainly recommend this place and hope to be back again soon, ourselves. Thank you both

We stayed here for just one night on the way from Cornwall to Devon but found it to be a high standard in a great location. Comfortable room with large bed and great breakfast served by the helpful owner and made by his wife.

A very warm welcome from Brian and Hilary and a very comfortable 2 night stay to visit our newly born granddaughter. The room was excellent, peaceful, spotless and comfortable. Breakfast was perfect and nothing too much trouble for the hosts! It seemed more like a stay with friends than a B&B. Excellent location, just couple of minutes walk from the beach and only a few minutes from the town. We will most definitely be staying here again in the future. Thank you for your kind hospitality.

Myself and 5 friends stayed at this lovely homely guest house and from the minute we went through the door we were made to feel so welcome. The rooms were warm and clean lovely food and nothing was too much trouble for our hosts Hilary and Brian. We are now planning our next trip, but when the weather is a bit warmer !

Stayed here for 2 nights to see the sights of Bude and complete some coastal walking. Very clean hotel with extremely pleasant and friendly owners, Brian and Hiliary. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they made our stay hassle free and relaxing. Breakfast is very good and position of hotel is very convenient for golf course, beaches and town. We will return!

Wonderful stay -

We had a wonderful 3 night stay. Room 4 very comfortable, I love the big old bath, lovely after doing a 9 mile coastal walk. Bed was huge and very comfortable. Everywhere was very clean. Can not fault it at all. Even though some would say the room is dated I liked it that way, it has character and felt very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious plenty of it. We did have an evening meal and it was so good, especially the home made chips. I could of done with more of those chips but that’s ,me just being greedy lol Brian and Hillary made us feel very welcomed and nothing was too much. I hope all their dreams come true with their new venture. I would highly recommend a stay here.

A homely haven in Bude -

Bude Haven Guest House is perfectly named. It’s in Bude, feels like a home away from home and was a haven for me and my girlfriend.

Brian and Hilary had only taken over the hotel (or, as Brian pointed out, guest house) a couple of weeks before we visited. They both welcomed us in, checked whether we’d like dinner and if either of us were vegetarian (for breakfast) and - after showing us our room - invited us to join them for a drink before dinner if we wanted.

The room (2) was lovely and spacious, with views of the nearby golf course. Whilst some of the décor looked a little dated, Bathroom had both a shower and bath, the latter had a good temperature and pressure. Brian explained how they’d only just gotten started with their work. The room was a comfortable temperature, and the bed was huge and comfortable for us both.

Downstairs, there’s a beautiful tiled floor in the entrance hallway. Most of the guests’ shared space is the bar, lounge area and dining room. A second dining room leads off the main one which, we were told, will become a games/function room (I hope next time we visit, Brian will have put up his dartboard and pool table!). From here, there’s also a jacuzzi! Though, as we were only staying for one night, we didn’t have the time to try it ourselves.

The food Hilary cooked was very comforting and home-cooked. For the evening meal I had gammon, egg and chips; and my girlfriend had the sea bass. The chips were REAL, which is a real surprise. Their breakfast was delicious too. I had the full English and, unlike many places I’ve stayed, the sausage was a beauty. If you’re wanting homely grub, it’s perfect - but, if you’re wanting something fancy, Bude’s got some great spots to eat and is a pleasant short walk from the hotel.

What I most enjoyed was how comfortable me and my girlfriend felt. We felt more like friends than guests, and I enjoyed transitioning from Cornish ales through to a beer Brian had brought down from his old stomping ground in Oxfordshire.

I’m excited to see what Brian and Hilary have got in store for their welcoming guest house, and hope to visit again to see all their changes.
